VOLUNTEER WITH US!

We are looking for individuals that would like to have a positive impact on their community. If you are 14 years old or older, we have a position for you.

 

Railway City Music and Arts Festival runs Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday August 15-18th: 11:00 am 11:00 pm

Volunteer shifts begin Thursday August 15th at 2:00 p.m. for orientation and ends at about 12:00am on Sunday evening / Monday morning after park clean up and tear down. Each volunteer is assigned according to their availability and hopefully preferred areas of assignment. You will receive a copy of your schedule by email. Schedules will not change without your permission but we may have to alter your assignment as a result of other changes such as cancellations or “no shows”.

All volunteers receive a t-shirt and complimentary refreshments.

VOLUNTEER POSITIONS

SITE TEAM

Set Up and Tear Down 

  • Volunteers prepare the park for the Festival and take it all down after.

  • You may be cleaning/setting up/taking down equipment, assisting vendors, cleaning the park etc.

 

Groundskeeping

  • Volunteers oversee the park, assist with the transport and set up of equipment and keep the park clean.

Parking Monitor

  • Volunteers manage the entrance of the park providing access only for drop off/pick up and very short-term parking to unload equipment.

Eco Stations

  • Volunteers will assist the public with sorting their waste into the appropriate streams (recycling, compost, garbage, cardboard) at the 9 eco-stations. Training & supplies provided.

Waste Bins

  • Volunteers will monitor the waste collection bins used for garbage, recycling, and cardboard to ensure vendors and site crew are disposing of items correctly. Protective gloves are provided in case you have to handle any waste.  The parks department staff will take away waste and put it into the garbage bin for us.

PERFORMER SERVICES

Registration/Hospitality

  • Volunteers will assist with performer sign-in and the hospitality area where performers and their guests are looked after. 

MASTER OF CEREMONIES
  • Coordinate with performers and/or manager to introduce them at the beginning of their sets.

  • Entertain the audience between performers.

  • Recognize sponsors, volunteers, etc. as per schedule.

  • Thank performers after their set.

PRODUCTION

Stage Manager Assistants

  • Volunteers will assist with setting up the bandshell area, meet performers and direct vehicles to the appropriate parking area and to the registration/hospitality area, and set up stage equipment for different artists throughout the day. No production experience is necessary but this is a physical position and you must be able to lift up to 30lbs.

  • Volunteers will assist artists as needed.  

CRAFT & FOOD VENDOR SUPPORT
  • Volunteers are assigned to work with the Food and Craft Vendor Coordinators to support the vendors.

FESTIVAL AMBASSADOR
  • Information/Volunteer/Merchandise Tent

  • Volunteers provide assistance to patrons with questions, distribute programs, and accept donations.  

  • Check in volunteers for their shifts and show them where they need to go. 

  • Sell RCMAF merchandise and merchandise dropped off by our musicians.

DONATIONS
  • Volunteers are assigned to solicit and accept cash donations at the Community stage and Main Stage during the performances.

BEER GARDEN

Servers

  • Must have a valid smart serve certificate submitted prior to shift and on their person during their shift

  • Provide excellent customer service to customers, performers, and those involved with the festival.

  • Set-Up of draught trailer at beginning of shift, closing of trailer at end of shift.

  • Prepare beer garden for patrons.  Cleaning of beer garden and tent area at beginning, during, and end of shift.

  • Replenish empty kegs and coolers as needed.  This may require lifting up to 50lbs.

  • Pouring draft beer

  • May be assigned to selling beer tickets

  • May be assigned to VIP area

  • Daily inventory count at beginning and end of each shift

Ticket Sellers

  • Must have a valid smart serve certificate submitted prior to shift and on their person during their shift.

  • Provide excellent customer service to customers, performers, and those involved with the festival.

  • Responsible for shift cash-out

  • Collect payments via cash, debit, credit card. Make change as necessary

  • Assist main gate as requested.

  • Assist with serving and/or pouring

  • Assist with replenishing of stock

Gate Sales

  • Must have a valid smart serve certificate submitted prior to shift and on their person during their shift.

  • Provide excellent customer service to customers, performers, and those involved with the festival.

  • Collect payments via cash, debit, credit card. Make change as necessary

  • Assist security with checking ID and putting wrist bands on those over 19.
